As the Asian community descended on Saigon Mall, they had one thought in mind; to get a healthy dose of Asian Culture. And they certainly came to the right place.
Saigon Mall CEO, Sean Nguyen, and the merchants in the mall, pulled out all the stops in putting together a multi-cultural celebration, by showcasing the talents of the many different Asian ethnicities in North Texas.
The festival opened with the introduction of the dignitaries, and with the lion dances. Representing Garland at the festival were Mayor Ronald Jones, Mayor Pro Tem Rick Williams and Councilman John Willis. Also on hand was State Representative Angie Chen Button. There were also representatives from the city of Dallas, and the city of Richardson.
All Asian festivals include the popping of the loudest firecrackers that you have ever heard, and this one was no exception. It is tradition.
The festival featured Bounce Houses, face painting, balloon animals, along with many Asian cultural dances and exhibitions.
The people came and they enjoyed.
It appears that Jennifer and Tom Nguyen are passing on to their children their organizational skills, as their daughter Nancy Dinh was the chairman of the Festival this year and did a great job. She has learned well.
